William James was referred to as the engender of American Psychology. William James was
born January 11, 1842 in upstart York City, to William Henry, Sr. William James contributed to
functionalism, pragmatism, and influenced many students during his 35 class learn career.
William James was born to a father that was intensely interest in Psychology and
Theology. Henry James, Williamss father, did what he had to to occupy sure his children had the
best education possible. William and his siblings travelled to Europe to ensure the best schools.
William James was immersed in culture and art at an early age. This gave William many options
for a successful career in whatever he chose.
Henry James was a demanding father and exigencyed his kids to follow in his footsteps. William
James was not at all interested in psychology. He was interested in studying painting.

was so determined to study painting, he at long last gave in to his fathers demands and told him he
was interested in science and philosophy. William knew that was the only was his father would
allow him to study painting. William canvass painting with artist William Morris Hunt for over a

study chemistry.
William James currently became fascinated with psychology. He was considered an original
