Importance of Typography on the Designs of Louis Dorfsman
The Kemistry impulsion in London hosted for over six weeks an exhibition or so the work of American graphic radiation diagramer Louis Dorfsman, featuring over lx original prints, as well as a half(a) sized reproduction of his Gastrotypographicalassemblage (Kemistry Gallery, 2010).
Born in Manhattan, the aim of Dorfsman was to field of operations bacteriology. Supervising every design decision, he was in charge of all corporate visual elements, from the design of the newsroom to signage and stationary, as well as print advertising. This strict go resulted in a solid visual style unwavering to the CBS logo, created by William Golden (Heller 2008, Bierut 2008).
His simple style shows a careful persona of negative space and clever illustrations (Pérez, 2009). Dorfsman used aggregate techniques and visual elements to make his designs stand out. On the newspaper advertising of the CBS for the television program around the first man attempting to field the Earth (Dorfsman, 1962), he used a black and purity illustration reproducing a portion of the American flag, with the photography of a rocket close to the stars and the main text placed indoors the white stripes.
