History
Digital photography has been in single-valued function for about 40 years and has become a deviate of common society and its impact is still evolving and expanding. It started as other application in late 1969 and early 1970 and developed into the everyday camera we all use today. Two scientists, George smith and Willard Boyle invented the charge-coupled gismo (CCD), the image sensor thats the heart of all digital cameras, at Bell Labs. Smith and Boyle were attempting to create a rising kind of semiconductor memory for computers. At the same condemnation they were looking for a way to develop a solidness camera for use in video phones. By the end1970, Smith and Boyle had built the CCD into the worlds first solid-state video camera. In 1975, they demo the first CCD camera with image quality sharp plenteous for broadcast television.
Today, CCD technology is pervasive not only in broadcasting but also in video applications that jog from security monitoring to high - definition television and from endoscopy to background signal videoconferencing.



Facsimile machines, copying machines, image scanners, digital still cameras, and bulwark code readers also have employed CCDs to turn patterns of easygoing into useful information.
It wasnt until 1981, however, that Sony Corporation produced the first prototype digital camera, the Mavica (Magnetic Video Camera) electronic still camera, which recorded images as magnetic impulses on a compact two-inch still-video floppy turn. The images were captured on the disk by using two CCD (charge-coupled device) chips. One chip stored luminosity information and the other separately recorded the chrominance information. The images could be stored on the floppy disk either in Frame or Field mode. When the photographer selected the Frame mode, the sensor recorded each picture on two tracks.
