INTRODUCTION
The novel Jasmine was written by Bharati Mukherjee who is an Indian-American author. She has a rules degree in fine arts and a doctorate from the University of Iowa. She won the National Book Critics Award in fiction for The Middleman and Other Stories. The novel Jasmine was published in 1989 illustrates the story of a Punjabi widow reinventing herself in America. It follows the flavour of Jasmine book of facts from her birth in a rural village in India to her adulthood in America, such as Florida, New York, Iowa, and lastly California.
