Research inspection Part 2: Critical Analysis of Quantitative Study Titled Quantitative Bone Ultrasound Measurements in Young Females 14 23 Years of Age
Panagiota Klentrou and Izabella Ludwa; two Canadian researchers from Brock University, Ontario conducted a study (the study) to examine how the peripheral Quantitative Ultrasound (QUS) measurements differs in young females of ages 14 to 23 and if their body idea and behavioral factors of physical activity, Oral Contraceptive (OC) use, and calcium ingestion influence the QUS measurements. This is a critical analysis of the research bind published in the Journal of Womens Health in May 2011(Klentrou & Ludwa, 2011). This author intends to analyze the study in quadruplet distinct criteria: (a) Protection of pitying Participants of the study; (b) Data order; (c) Data Management and Analysis; and Study Findings and its Interpretations.
Protection of Human Participants
The National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Bio medical examination and behavioural Research guidelines commonly called the Belmont Report - are the standards that researchers follow oecumenical to comply with ethical principles governing protection of humans subjected to medical research (Belmont Report. 1979). It mandates that the risks and benefits of participating in the study to be explicitly explained to the participants. The research article does not specify that the benefits and risks of participation were determine and explained to the participants; or that a written consent was obtained.
