Ethical Treatment of Prisoners

The treatment of women and men that are inmates to the conveys prison house are treated in many different ways. round officers go by the rules and regulations that their state puts forth and some dupet when it comes to how to treat an inmate. This report will discuss the respectable issues/treatment of prisoners from a personal view ( being that I was a correctional officer for two years) and having family members as inmates. A person would believe that every jail inwardly the same state would run their correction facilities in the same way only they actually dont.
Every ethical theory has its take unique way on looking into issues. Utilitarian stands come forth the most to me because it stands for the belief that moral rules should be choices made by a society to promote the happiness of its members. Through the utilitarian view the argument could be made that these prisoners are being treated to good and not good enough. If this theory was utilised within the jail system many issues would be figure out and go along with the right and not wrong.
I was a Correction Officer for a few years in the city jail called Rikers Island. I was taught in the academy to love and respect the role as an officer. I saw so many events that took place; masses would not believe it unless they take care it with their own eyes.



These events are with officers (of all ranks) and inmates (with all crime levels) within the facility. That experience gave me a whole new aspect of the people behind the law. There are many ethical issues/problems in the prison system that needs to be evaluated (in my opinion).
Ethical Issues/Problems #1 (Officers against Inmates)
Inmates are placed with different levels of crimes. For example: Inmate Jones is doing prison term for murder in the 1st degree (Level-High Classified) and Inmate smith is doing time for robbery in the 2nd degree (Level-Medium Classified).
