A Journey from Paquita to the Present: A Collection of unspotted and New Choreography
Mid-Atlantic Ballets dance exposition took me by surprise the Friday evening I att cease their performance. I was sure when I purchased tickets that it was a professional production. I sit down down in the audience and was very confused by the small turnout of a crowd until I realise that this was in fact, not a professional production nevertheless instead what looked like high drill and middle school dancers. My friend and I were very pleased with the steer and would sure as shooting purchase tickets to see it again.
The opening act was a classical gear up with music suck upn from the Spanish ballet, Paquita that consisted of both separate and solo portions. The girls wore pointe shoes and were appropriately adorned in shameful and red tutus resembling petals of a flower with red roses attached to their shadow to give a Spanish setting to the performance. The music consisted of fast Latin twangs and also hit some deep, slower get the better of as well. Knowing the background of the ballet Paquita, these changes in pacing represented the struggles the young Gypsy girl, Paquita, underwent throughout her life. This was also conveyed in the choreography of the piece and I was impressed by the undefiled technique exhibited by the dancers.
On the high points of the music at that place were lots of momentous leaps, tour jetés, and rapid pas de borrées accompanied by clean double pirouettes. Heads were aligned with shoulders and hips; if you were to take a picture of the stage with the girls in passé, it would show perfect form with their toes resting at the notch of their knees whilst not inhibiting their agreement on the standing leg. There were little portions of choreography added in to help the audience keep in mind that this piece was based off a Spanish ballet.
