DATA MINING AND DATA WAREHOUSING Data minelaying and information warehousing have grown to their full potential straightaway after passing through a number of intelligibly demarcated stages. Prior to seventies we had the flat files and databases. The emphasis then was on data collection and database creation. A manager was able to use them only for simplifying his/her day-by-day task. These were further developed into a Database forethought System (DBMS) from the 1970s to the early1980s, offering advantages like concurrent, shared or distributed access, ensuring the consistency and providing information security, providing the keystone for the reports and supporting the conventional MIS and OIS features. Later on, DBMS followed three below-mentioned result paths. (a) Advanced database systems: The training started in the 1980s and is still qualifying on. They include object-relational, spatial, temporal, biological database systems. (b) Data warehousing and data mining: It started evolving in the 1980s and is still going on in the form of knowledge discovery and data mining, data warehousing and Online uninflected Processing (OLAP) technologies. Their full potential was not realized imputable to a large number of limitations of the hardware, networking and software constraints of the earlier years.

(c) Web- base database systems: The outgrowth is on from the 1990s till the present term.
