I disagree with the Simon and Schuster review in that it labels the book "outrageously funny" because I found its themes and topics anything exclusively humorous. Instead, I agree more with the review of Robert Young (1) who argues that it is a "novel about death, about what people do when face with the daily alikelihood of annihilation. For the most part what they do is get a line to survive in any way they can."
